What is a corset?
A corset is a classic style of form-fitting undergarment that dates back to the 16th century, and is designed to give your body a curvy hourglass figure. Corsets are also intended to offer support to the bust. Most corsets have some sort of boning along the sides, and have some kind of adjustable closure on either the back or front - usually lace-up - that allows the wearer to get just the right fit.
Are corsets only designed to be worn under regular clothes?
No, there are many styles of corsets that can be worn as outerwear tops. A few of our styles have attached garters, which makes wearing a corset with jeans impossible, but usually the included garters are removable, so wearing a corset with your favorite pants, jeans or skirt is no problem. Look for corsets that are described as having removable garters. If you have questions as to whether a particular corset has removable garters, feel free to contact customer service.
How do I find the correct corset size?
The best way to find your correct corset size is to determine your bust size first. Measure the fullest part of your bust and use that measurement to determine the correct size. Because corsets are fully adjustable, keep in mind that a corset can expand around an inch or two by loosening the lacing - or more. It really depends on how much skin you feel comfortable exposing in the back or front (depending on where the lacing is). If you fall between sizes and don't want to expose skin, you should opt for the larger size. What's the best body type to wear a corset?
The best thing about corsets is that really any body type can wear one and look hot. Corsets are designed to give every figure a sexy hourglass shape.
How comfortable are corsets to wear?
A corset that is properly sized and laced is very comfortable. Depending on how rigid the boning is, you might have a few mobility issues (touching your toes might be a challenge). Once your corset is properly adjusted, though, putting it on and taking it off are a snap.
How hard is it to fit a corset?
Depending on your experience with corsets, you may need help the first time you put on a corset to properly adjust the lacing and get the fit right - we recommend asking a friend! Many of our corsets have a zipper or front hook and eye closure in addition to the lace-up, though, so you only have to lace it up once.
